Subject: [arm-allstar] Node Connection Status Check

Behind the "permanent connect" command is a script that is doing exactly
what you are asking for. It keeps checking the status of the connection
to any node that you connected to. It has no bearing on other nodes that
may be connected on a network. Whenever the script detects a
disconnection, it keeps trying to reconnect to that node. AS I
understand it, there is a timeout so that after a given amount of time
of trying to reconnect and without success, it stops.
The real question is: Why are you getting frequent disconnections? It
will take some trouble shooting. First you want to know if it's
disconnects with the same node or any node. If it's the same node, then
it's highly likely that node has some connectivity issues and they will
be out of your control. If it's any node, then chances are good you are
having network connectivity issues then you have to try to find out why.
Are you having connectivity issues with other services? ie When you do
other things on your network (web, email, etc,...), are there
connectivity issues? Further, you must distinguish the difference
between "WiFI" connectivity and "Network" connectivity. They are not the
same. A WiFi issue does not mean you have an issue with the Internet or
vis versa.
I know this does not give you the answer you'd like to hear, however,
trying to create a script and tying it to a cron is a duplication of
existing processes within Hamvoip.
Thanks so much.
