"Well, no RPi 2/3/4 boards seem to be available in quantity right now, nor
are they projected to be available for months, based on what I hear."
This might seem stupid to some, but it's worth thinking about.... IMHO that is...
Since this seems to be something that many of us are concerned about maybe the powers to be should revert back to prior days by getting the current software to work with a laptop and/or desktop machines that have built-in audio. This lack of availability of the Pi's should prove there's a need to have backup plans in case the R-Pi ends up being on hold for a year or more... I never was one to put all my trust into one kind of computer like the Pi. That's why I run both ASl & Hamvoip as I were concerned that this lack of Pi's would one day arrive. Besides, there are plenty of used laptops and desktops, a lot more than there are R-Pi's both new and used...
One can never have too many options available for when the main options go south.
Shouldn't be that hard since the Pi's OS is already set up for Ubuntu. Just a thought....

Hi Gerry,
Well, no RPi 2/3/4 boards seem to be available in quantity right now, nor
are they projected to be available for months, based on what I hear.
This world semiconductor / supply-chain issue is the pits!
Okay about a more recent version of python, etc. It's coming.
For now, if you want to try the most recent hamvoip-asterisk pre-release
code, the package is here:
https://dl.hamvoip.org/arch/armv7h/hamvoip-prerelease/hamvoip-asterisk-0.1.6.5-30.pkg.tar.xz
This code is light-years beyond the currently released code from June
2020.
