I had a blank/black screen on the Pi3B with the hamvoip image. But as a “last resort” I tried it on a different (smaller) monitor and it came right up.

But I'm having issues with booting the RPi2/RPi2-3-4_V1.6-01_Allstar.img image and the HDMI output. Works just fine if I flash/boot with Raspbian Buster. But when I flash with the Allstar image, I don't get HDMI console.
