Lee,

Telemetry (announcement) levels are set by two parameters in rpt.conf,

telemnomdb=0 ; Overall reduction in telemetry level
telemduckdb=-9 ; Telemetry level reduction with signal

First you must set the overall level using simpleusb-tune-menu Then
telemnomdb sets the amount the telemetry messages are incresed or decreased
in relation to normal voice. This is usually set at 0 dB or some amount
lower, say -3 dB. telemduckdb is how much lower telemetry is when it is
over top of someone talking.

Check your levels and these parameters. There is nothing else that could
effect it.
