Darrell,

   The playnews script can play local or global. Typically it would be
played globally meaning to any connected node including echolink. Info on
the script is in the script so view it with nano. Here is a quick summary -

#   Command line format - playnews ARRL|ARN 21:00|NOW 40000 L|G
#   Options are ARRL or ARN news, specific 24 hour time or "NOW"
#   and local "L" or Global "G" play modes.

The trailing L or G ( if you leave it off default G)  determines where the
audio goes.
