Howdy,
Off list,
So I’m going to inherit one of these with the bad display. Which bothers me exactly zero, since I’m blind and don’t care about the display anyway, and it will have the voice module installed.
Is this a GNU/Linux command line program? Sounds good if so.

Rather than take the HAMLIB approach, I use a program called RCV7 that allows you to do some control of your TM-V7A using your PC and a USB to serial programming cable made for the TM-V7A. I built my own but they are available on ebay. I just program the TM-V7A for the frequency, CTCSS power level, etc that I want and then turn the radio off and unplug the cable. The TM-V7A remembers your settings when power is shut off. I then plug my URI (in my case, that is a DINAH) to use the radio for Allstar. I have placed a copy of the program in the Files folder of the DINAH group www.groups.io/g/dinah/files <www.groups.io/g/shari/files>.

When I make the cable and all that good stuff will I have to basically build another node minus the simplex radio and then connect my current node to it to be able to controll it?
