Jamey,

 Just in case you were not aware there are scripts in /usr/loca/sbin for
BCD control using both GPIO and USB FOBS. The DMK-URI using the CM119 and
GPIO pins on the 25 pin D works well in this application.

And yes you are right there is a generic Kenwood in hamlib that I believe
would work. Dave could give you more info on that. I believe it has been
done. The problem is it is not documented by Kenwood and apparently no one
else at least for that specific radio. Maybe ask on the hamlib forum.
