thanks for your reply to my question, the info you gave to kill node connection/disconnection announcements was as below, but this has stopped time announcements also...

The command is telemdefault in /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf The default setting
is 2 which allows you to hear your own connects and disconnects but not
others after it mutes in 1 minute. Setting it to 1 you hear all and 0 you
hear none.

telemdefault=2
; 0= voice telemetry off, 1= on,
; 2= Only your telemetry actions
; then mutes in 1 minute
