Terry,
Did you read the whole comment I made on backups? You, the user still
have the option of doing an image backup if that is your preference. We
just took away the option of doing it live which is not a good idea. I will
repeat - the file backup and restore scripts by default saves the files and
directories that users would normally be modifying like - /root
/etc/asterisk /usr/local/etc /var/spool/cron
/srv/http/allmon2/allmon.ini.php /srv/http/supermon/allmon.ini
/srv/http/supermon/global.inc - but if you want to add things that is up
to you. It is done in /usr/local/etc/backup.conf. But as a rule you should
not add things nor put things in directories or files that could be changed
by updates.
If you prefer you can still halt your server, remove your SD card, Copy it
and return it to your system which would take about 15 minutes. However if
you don't check that copy (backup) and you subsequently find out when you
have a need it won't boot for some reason it is useless as a backup. That
is why I said check your backups and why the file backup method might be a
better choice in the long run. You can easily test it. Back up your files
using the script, Burn a new image to a card (same amount of time as
burning the backup) then update it and restore the files which is very fast.
