Thank you Doug, that's a good description. For portability power, my 
intent is to use a single Anderson PowerPole connection to drive a 
couple https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GJ0SC2C for a UV-82 and the 
RPi3. The single powerpole connection will make it possible to transport 
easily anywhere.

I very much like that case in your pictures, can you disclose your 
source, please, as well as the bulkhead SMA connector assembly that you 
used? Sometimes the shopping experiences make me dumbfounded, so I like 
to be able to benefit from others shopping research whenever possible, 
please, just as I provided above for others.

Yes, VPN is an added cost for any mobile port forwarding, but I have a 
radio friend who is traveling at this time and into the foreseeable 
future. He got me interested in AllStar and I like to stay in touch, so 
to keep costs down we can just communicate on any of the available 
reflectors. It's easy enough via simple shell scripting, a cron job 
every minute and SMS text messaging to get notified whenever he's 
connected on http://stats.allstarlink.org/
