Bryan,
I can't imagine why that is happening in your router. Maybe try rebooting
it. You can assign a static (reserved) DHCP address in your router. Get the
mac addresses of your Pi board -
[root at Pi3-1 ~]# cat /sys/class/net/wlan0/address
b8:27:eb:15:1c:0d
[root at Pi3-1 ~]# cat /sys/class/net/eth0/address
b8:27:eb:40:49:58
[root at Pi3-1 ~]#
and use these addresses to force your router to always reserve and assign a
specific IP. Note that wire and wireless have distinct mac addresses.
On some router you can just do it in a couple of clicks and on other you
have to manually enter the characters.
I would not recommend wireless static if you are going portable so best to
keep it DHCP even at home if you can.
