Josh,

The /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf file does not get overwritten unless you run
the setup again. We do not update it in online updates. If there was an
update of protected configuration files but they would be named *.pacnew so
rpt.conf would be rpt.conf.pacnew. If you want to run setup again for some
reason and preserve what you have then you should copy your current file to
a backup file. Setup only changes rpt.conf, iax.conf, extensions.conf, and
simpleusb.conf. With the options in the ADMIN menu there is probably no
reason to run setup again like there had been in the past. Most things can
be changed on a piecemeal basisi from the menu.

This script - https://hamvoip.org/downloads/write_node_callsigns.tar.gz

will write the node callsigns for each node and say the callsigns rather
than the nodes numbers. To get it into your server do -

cd /root then wget
https://hamvoip.org/downloads/write_node_callsigns.tar.gz
untar it -

tar xvzf write_node_callsigns.tar.gz

and run it.

./write_node_callsigns.sh

This will give you an idea of how to create your own custom statements but
keep in mind it will always say "connected to" and the node, call, or
other substituted text. It probably will not be any shorter.

The sound files are stored in -
/var/lib/asterisk/sounds/rpt/nodenames/node.gsm - where node is the given
node number. So in your case you would create a 27339.gsm with a TTS
derived "Eastern Reflector" message. There is no Alison text for reflector
bit there is for eastern.

Keep in mind this is only for your system and what you hear locally when
connecting and disconnecting not what someone from outside connecting
hears. Each connecting node would have to setup their own
/var/lib/asterisk/sounds/rpt/nodenames/ directory.
