Josh,

  You mention an Arch Linux version but not what image or computer hardware
RPI2/3 you are using?

Are you using a hamvoip.org image? The latest image is V1.02 at -

>From what you are saying it appears you may have the carrierfrom phase
wrong. Depending on the radio you are using you need to set the carrierfrom
in /etc/asterisk/simpleusb.conf to either  carrierfrom=usbinvert  (the
default) or carrierfrom=usb

usbinvert means the radio's COS output goes low on rx signal
usb means the radio's COS output goes high on rx signal

low means close to 0 volts. High is anything above a couple of volts.

When you change that setting you need to restart Asterisk - astres.sh

If this is set wrong strange things will happen like the node not talking
back to you because it is being blocked thinking there is an RX signal.
