Yes, running the firsttime.sh script is always the best way to start a new node or even update an old one. prior setup parameters for the node are remembered but you can always specify new ones.

You can just type firsttime.sh at the linux prompt or if you are not sure of the condition of the SD card image just burn it again and start fresh.

Initial startup is very quick as long as you have the data to enter handy - Call, node#, node pw, IP address/gateway if static, etc.  It is made to be fast and easy.

I have a BBB that Ai setup for a node that never got used. I want to now use the BBB for a new node. Will running the first time script be the best bet for starting from scratch? 
The first node I setup I only ran the the first time script and setup a persistent connection so it's not like the BBB was highly configured in the first place.
