[arm-allstar] Pre-recorded broadcasts

Yes, I agree that for splitting the audio stream into chunks is desirable,
like is done with Newsline, etc. However, blindly splitting in the middle
of a word (like Newsline), seems undesirable to me.

What would be great is a script for some some popular audio editing tool
to automatically look for silence after a certain number of seconds and
intelligently split the stream. Silence could perhaps be determined by an
adjustable threshold? As a fall-back, if no silence can be found in the
time window, just split the stream (like Newsline).

Anybody got any ideas?

hard set in the radios or repeaters. So it gets complicated. You should
really break at least every three minutes to reset timeouts of any nodes
or repeaters along the way. I have heard newsline on the air with these
breaks and I don't think it is manually created. It breaks right in the
middle of a word and then picks back up at that point. So a script the
parses the audio file in about 3 minutes chunks would be the best thing.

for you? If so check out COP 7 and 8 and/or the Control State Stanza
(http://docs.allstarlink.org/drupal/node/18). You could use those along
with cron (or the app_rpt scheduler) to switch at a regular time, say every Monday at 7:30 PM.
