[arm-allstar] Hamlib / GPIOs for Channel Steering

Greetings, Josh:

I have personally only used two radios as remote bases with
HamVoIP/Hamlib, those being the Kenwood TM-D700A and the Kenwood TM-V71A.

Both work well enough, with different quirks for each radio.

I have yet to figure out a system for setting the CTCSS frequency from
VFO, but switching to different memory channels, changing from A band to
B band, whether or not the TM-V71A receives from A or B, or transmits on
one band and receives from the other through Hamlib all work fine, as
does adjusting the RF output power.

Cat control is a bit more limited for the TM-D700A, and the radio is
very picky about what frequencies you can get to from VFO depending on
which band is selected, and where the other band is parked. The TM-V71A
doesn't seem to care about that sort of thing as much. I can't control
the output power of the TM-D700A from Hamlib, as this doesn't seem to be
supported. Don't know if that's Hamlib's TM-D700A support or the radio's
fault.

Both radios are fine if you are just switching to different
preprogrammed memory channels. However, I prefer the  TM-V71A, since
CTCSS decoding is ,for all intents, broken with  the D700A and
simpleusb, and any carrier will trigger COS. If you're using the 1200
baud output of the radio, this results in COS but no audio if the
squelch is not open. If you use the 9600 baud (discriminator tap)
output, which I prefer to do, decoding is completely ignored.

There  may be a workaround for this that doesn't involve using the
DSP-based CTCSS decoding of usbradio, though I'm not sure of it.
