Good evening folks.
I'm looking for some advice on building a repeater.
The radio club I belong to wants to build a 10 meter repeater. This
entails having a TX node some distance away from the RX node, in this case
it would be about 7 miles. So we believe that we 'should' be able to link
them using hamvoip at each location using the internet to connect the two
in private mode. We'd also like to add a couple of radioless monitoring
nodes.
I have modified two CM108 boards for the two ends of the repeater as has
been detailed in several places and can modify more for the radioless
nodes. So I am ready to move on to configuring the software.
So I guess the first question should be, is this possible using hamvoip? If
so, are there any links to web pages that will provide some guidance on
this subject? Is there anyone that can provide some input to this subject?
Just as a side note, for those that might ask why we don't use an RF link
between the two sites? We have tried to provide a 220 RF link between
the two sites but the commercial site that the receiver was on had so much
stray RF that we were unable to create a consistent link. So we shelved
that several years ago. I was doing some research and discovered HamVOIP
and had the thought that this might be able to make the 10 meter repeater
happen. I hope I'm right.
