Jon,

As a further comment about USB sound adapters.

Being new to Allstar... by purchasing one of the many options from 
<http://www.masterscommunications.com/>

They will provide you with a a very flexible Adapter for sound plus easy 
access to the additional usage of IO control lines from the sound chip.

If into soldering a kit together Kevin supplies super instructions with 
all parts and is his kits are about as economical as you will find for 
the features available.

Not affiliated in any way but have built and used his products. They are 
excellent.
