You're awesome. It works as you described.
Now to come up with a script that can take that temperature and if it's above or below a certain threshold set off a warning transmission or send warning email. I hate to bother you further, but my linux scripting is only "ok" at best and "not so great" generally lol. If it's easy for you, could you provide me some kind of sample script to do those kinds of things?
The email me if it's above this temp....email me if it's below that temp....script is probably the easier one I think, don't have to output temp to an audio file or anything like that for transmission ya know.
Or maybe instead of announcing the exact temp, if that's too much trouble, just using a generic temp alarm audio file to indicate the temp is too high or too low and have that transmitted then if I hear it I can login and see what the temp is. That along with the email alert with the current temp would be great in my book. Would you mind to help me along with that?
Lastly, can you verify that Temp 1 in the internal sensor on the usb device and temp 2 is from the external probe??

Hi Dusty,
I ordered one of the PC TEMPer2 sensors from Amazon and got it last Friday. I was unable to find a query program for this exact device after goog'ling around for a while, so I wrote a simple brute-force tool, based on earlier code. Please give this solution a try, to make sure it works with your sensor. To install, go to a bash prompt (admin menu #9) and install with pacman, like:
pacman -Sy hamvoip-sensors
The program for this exact model is named: temper2_V3.7 ...With the
TEMPer2 sensor plugged into the RPi, run this command and you should see output similar to:
root at david-ryzen9:/export/rpi/# temper2_V3.7
DATE|VERSION|TEMP1C|TEMP1F|TEMP2C|TEMP2F|HIDDEV
2021-12-03-04:12:10|TEMPer2_V3.7|24.43|75.97|19.81|67.65|/dev/hidraw5
The output is a CSV style layout, using "pipe" ('|' vertical bars) characters as the field delimiters. The software is a simple bash script, at this point (see the file: /usr/local/sbin/temper2_V3.7), so modification, as needed, is easy.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
