I think I understand now, thank you for the clarification.
The last thing I can't work out is whether PiTone app can generate the PL audio to go through the USB line along with the regular transmitted audio, or if a separate analog line needs to be run from the IO header
to be mixed with the audio coming out of the URI board. It would be nice if it could be included into the digital audio stream of the transmitted signal in the Pi.
