Ken,
I just downloaded and confirmed both the self-extracting .exe file (for MS
windows users) and the .xz image (for Linux/Unix users) contain the same
firmware image.
Please check your download again.
Here are my checksum tests, which match the published checksums on the
hamvoip.org webpage:
mcgough at david-ryzen:~/RPi-images$ 7z e -so RPi2-3-4_V1.6-01_Allstar.exe RPi2-3_V1.6-01_Allstar.img | sha1sum
3599db3f31b3444aae63d6dd7756a9c0df96ccd0 -
mcgough at david-ryzen:~/RPi-images$ xzcat RPi2-3-4_V1.6-01_Allstar.img.xz | sha1sum
3599db3f31b3444aae63d6dd7756a9c0df96ccd0 -
...Note that there is a difference in the image filename: RPi2-3 vs.
RPi2-3-4.
