[arm-allstar] codec query question

Hi all,

Doing a search for "codec2 allstar" reveals a hit in 2013.
A lot has been accomplished since them in both Codec2 and the ARM
small board computers. I happily run the FreeDV GUI app on a Banana Pi
M2 Berry in "mode 700D" the "flagship" mode.

Of note is the improved Codec2 API this year enabling direct data to
be handled by the OFDM modem. I'm using that in a repeater focused on
mode 700D. Digital Voice addresses to major issues for a repeater on HF:

1) Is the signal valid?                                   (presence of sync)
2) Does the signal "want" to be repeated?   (text string embedded in the voice data)

ATM, there's no station ident or destination but these could be added.

The experimentation is around going for the lowest bit-rate yet intelligible audio.

Also, targeting FM for VHF/UHF systems with a better modem/codec combination.

Perhaps 10db better performance can be achieved than AMBE.

See www.freedv.org for the GUI app and the Codec2 library.
