If i may,
before "shut down" it maybe an idea to communicate with the family of the radio-amateur and ask if someone or a radio club as taking back the repeater,,the node??

i have lived that and it occured that the guy gave all his equipment before he died at a radio-club so ,,
maybe some telephone would clarify.

This latest thread brings up an interesting question.

W0FCM is /sk but still has a pile of node numbers and things on the air.

David and crew, is there a procedure to shut down a node or reclaim the
node number if it is well known the holder is /sk?

How bout nodes that have never been active or have gone beyond a
reasonable length of time (maybe 2 yrs?) without ever coming up.
