Please note that they are still in *pre-production* and, when
available, will initially be in very limited quantities. Surprisingly,
the past units (thru several versions) I've beta-tested do not seem to
draw much additional power over that of the PI itself.
Also, note that the above wiki page details how to easily build your
*own* USB programming cable for those who want to use frequency agility,
so those who can do so can save a bit, as the units will be available
for purchase both with and without programming cable.
However, just as Doug has posted here so many times before, it is
highly recommended (basic best practice) to provide good clean power to
any PI. Do NOT go cheap on the power supply, whether wallwart or
buck-converter. This is even more true if you're running a 3B+ rather
than a plain 3B model. With that said, I run mine on a 3B (with WiFi to
my phone and BT off) for demos using a 2.1A pocket-sized phone
recharging battery seemingly with no problems - talk about portability!
Also: as a power and RF saving tip: if you don't use them, you can turn
off both the WiFi and/or the BT radio on start-up with an additional
control line in boot/config.txt - see prior posts.
Will try to post an alert here when the store opens up.
