Doug,
Thank you for your help, this works great! I just connected the RX to the pin 9, with a 10µF capacitor and this solved my problem. I didn’t have to install a pot, because the mod on the UV-82 takes the RX right before the audio amp (the radio pot is ineffective).
I am now running without rxboost and the RX voice level is at 600 instead of 1200 like before.
The next step for me is to put everything in a nice box.
Brian KK6DOQ, you should try this. I am pretty sure it will work for you as well.
