Fred,
I am assuming those mods are still valid I certainly think they are.
Taking audio from the high side of the volume pot. George has shipped
hundreds of these in yellow boxes and I believe he is using the same
modification. He is not using a DMK-URI though and as far as I know he has
never used one with a UV82. That's not to say it should not work. The
problem with the DMK-URI is that it has level reduction (a resistive
divider) internally on the AC input pin 21. There is another option - use
pin 9 mic in which is a direct connect to the CM119. You must use a
coupling cap - say 4-10uf @16V or more positive towards pin 9. Then use
the resistor over to the pot in the UV82. At this point there might be too
much gain and you may need to turn off the boost. Dpn't connect anything to
the URI pin 21 when using pin 9.
If that doesn't work don't give up this will work. You either have a bad
DMK-URI or you need to get a FOB that works with that radio. I can say for
sure the one George sells the ARA-1 works with that radio.
If this does not work minus having some test equipment or another radio you
can try there is no way of telling what is wrong.
