Eric,

Without knowing more about the topography of your network, it's hard to 
say what exactly may be wrong. I'm suspecting a routing or NAT issue is 
the culprit.

If you're running on a private network, you might consider some type of
VPN tunneling back to a central router. I use openvpn for this
extensively. If the network is completely private, ipip or gre work well,
too...And, there is wireguard now becoming available, which a really slick
crypto tunnel tool, but is new enough it may not be available on all your
platforms....(Personally speaking, I usually fall back to IPsec as the
crypto tool of last resort).
