[arm-allstar] Courtesy Tones question

 The stock simplex courtesy tone setup is used by many and works well.
There are different courtesy tones setup in rpt.conf to indicate no
connections to your node or connections to your node when you locally RF
unkey. When a network node unkeys there is yet another courtesy tone. These
tones serve a purpose and while most are use to them and want them you can
set - nounkeyct=1  (default is 0) in rpt.conf to disable the tones.

There are also two howto links on the hamvoip.org web page on setting up
courtesy tones and adding a distinctive courtesy tone based on the node
number.

Courtesy tones can be defined as complex tones, CW, or audio files as
described in the howto.

If you are hearing tones it could mean several things. You unkeyed, someone
reaching your RF input unkeyed, someone you are connected to unkeyed, or
possibly there is some interference causing a false RX COS trigger. You
must use PL or DCS on an Allstar node not just squelch input or this could
happen. In addition it is possible your node radios transmitter might be
falsing the receiver.  If you are using a handheld like a Baofeng 888, etc.
You should not be using the rubber duck antenna but rather a dummy load or
external antenna.
