Greg,

It seems like your rpt.conf is different from the base file that gets
released with the HamVoIP distro, since the 71, 72, and 73 commands can't
be found.

Take a look at your /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf file. I'll use node number 1998
as the example node number. First, you'll see a functions= statement in   
your node stanza. Something like:
 
[1998]
;
; Config statements
;
functions=functions1998
;
; More config statements
;


Now, take a look at the [functions1998] stanza. This is where the 71, 72, 
and 73 commands (and more) are configured. Something like:

[functions1998]
;
; Statements
;

 ;  disconnect permanently connected link = *71<node>
71=ilink,11
 ; connect link permanent monitor = *72<node>
72=ilink,12
 ; connect link permanent transceive = *73<node>
73=ilink,13
 ; play full system status

;
; More statements
;
