[arm-allstar] Radio-less mobile node connected signal

Hey everybody,

I’m setting up a couple of radio-less nodes to be installed into trucks. I’ve been thinking about how to let the driver know if the node is connected without annoying messages that would get old to listen to when the hot spot goes in/out of cell signal.

So far, the best idea I’ve come up with is the possibility of a courtesy beep upon release of PTT on the trucks simplex node to be herd out the speaker. If there is no connection to our Hub, then NO beep.
Can this be done? If so how?

How about a LED light that is connected to a GPIO pin. Turns on if node is connected ??? Can this be done, if so how?

Does anyone have any better ideas to let the driver know if he is connected if he wants to check?

I ordered a couple of Ed’s radio-less adapters for this project.

Thanks all, this group is wonderful
