[arm-allstar] Issues with DMK URIx USB

Jim,

I assume that you have other Internet devices there that you DO have
contact with? If not It could be an Internet issue or router issue at the
site.

Power is often an issue but I would have to say that I run a dozen or more
Pi's each on wall warts of varying brands and have for years without a
problem. They do have to be spec'ed for the Pi and not some charger laying
around for your whatever. I did have problems with the encapsulated car
adapters. We had several fail and another issue I see with them especially
on the 3B and 3B+ is they put out either exactly 5v or even a little less.
Once loaded and by the time it reaches the Pi it often goes below the low
voltage trigger point. When this happens the red light on the Pi goes out
or goes out intermittently. This usually will not stop the Pi from
functioning but you will get low voltage kernel messages and it is not a
good thing. Most wall warts are rated at 5.2v @2A or more and the voltage
at the Pi stays at 5V or a little above.

Since most hams have a 12V master source of considerable current a board
such as this works very well. We use them and they are reliable. Just make
sure you adjust if to the correct voltage before use. Nominally 5.1-5.2V.
Also a good idea to fuse the input at 2A.
