Chris,
Here is where to start. First of all get hamlib working with your radio
independent of Allstar.
For a list of hamlib controllable rigs -
rigctl -l
For a list of hamlib commands -
rigctl -h
You can also get more hamlib info from Google.
You will need a USB to RS232 converter cable if the rig is RS232. Be
careful with that as some cable are truly RS232 +- 12v and others 5V.
Determine what the rig requires. If it is USB just connect it.
Prove you can use rigctl on your Pi to control and read data from the radio.
Then using the same commands implement this -
https://www.hamvoip.org/Allstar_extended_functions_using_autopatch.pdf
allowing you to use DTMF to control and vocalize return data from the
radio.
We are in the process of eliminating the present remote base code from
Allstar and the interface to hamlib will be somewhat different but this may
not happen for awhile so the autopatch method will work for now and will
continue to work into the future.
I don't have any problem with discussing this on arm-alstar unless it get
to drawn out and we can take it off list but this gives you a starting
point. You will need to write a script as shown in brief in the the howto
to interface the autopatch DTMF to hamlib. I can give you a more extended
example on that if needed. Also I think others have done this since the
howto has been around for quite sometime.
