One thing I do with all my PI3 installs is to turn off both the
Bluetooth radio and the WiFi radio(s) in /boot/config.txt so that we're
not using/powering them = less power draw, possibly less heat, and less
random RF flying around.

Where possible, we have continued to use the old 3B units over the new
3B+ unless we really feel we need the computing power. And, no need for
5.8gig Wifi here.

I also unplug my Logitech Unify USB dongle (keyboard/mouse) when I'm
not using it, just to be sure nothing is trying to push power to that.

Also: If I do need a second network connection, instead of using the
"wlan0" approach, I use a $12 USB2 Ethernet adapter and use "eth1". I
always physically label it with its MAC address.

As always with any PI, a *quality* power supply with *quality cable
power* is a must. Finally, one has to ultimately wonder about eventual
degradation of the mechanical connection with the USB power cable to the PI.

	HTH,
