.wav files also play fine if they are 8kbit. Is there a specific reason they should be converted?

 If you have a wav file this command should convert it for playing on
Allstar -

sox -V audio.wav -r 8000 -c 1 -t ul audio.ul

sox is installed in hamvop.  Then just play it to your node to see how it
plays.-

asterisk -rx "rpt localplay xxxxx audio

Where xxxxx is the node number and audio is the full path and file WITHOUT
the extent.
