I have (3) Netgear6100D's on Sprint's LTE network. My experiments with
port forwarding have failed every time on all 3 devices. For instance
dyndns reports the IP of the device but I have been unable to ping it or
forward ports. My intention was to run an IP switch on the site... I
tested it and it did report the the portal site but would not control
the switch. There is a 3G mode on the device but when I try to force it
to 3G mode it does not connect to the network servers. I believe the 3G
network does provide a routable public IP but that all LTE networks,
although they work well, in some cases you don't get a publicly routable
public IP. IRLP & Echolin require publicly routable IPs to work. The
discussion on other reflectors have mentioned that cannot get LTE
networks to work without a VPN or Proxy Server.
I have a couple DMR sites that use them and work fine and keep one on
hand for a backup if needed for the repeaters I have at my home...
although we found that the get stupid every now an again so we have a
timer that cycles the power on the unit every 24 hours at about 3AM.
They are not always available for purchase but mine are with FreedomPop
a reseller of Sprint's network. They cost between $59 and $99 when you
can get them from FreedomPop and you get 500MB of data a month free...
you get 10 friends to add to your friends list and you get 50MB per
month for each friend up to another 500MB... so you get 1GB per month
free that way. The New England DMR network burns between 600-800MB per
month... Therefore no recurring monthly cost.
Perhaps other parts of the country the networks are differently configured.
YMMV... perhaps greatly!
