[arm-allstar] Are there plans for future free dns services in the distribution?

DDNS is an individual thing and there are many services out there that
supply it both for free and also for a small charge. It will never be part
of the hamvoip distribution. You could use an Allstar server to update a
DDNS service if and when your IP address changes. This is generally a
script that monitors your public IP and reports changes to the DDNS
service. As was pointed out this could also be implemented in many routers
and that is really where it should be done if possible. Also Allstar is in
itself a DDNS in that once you are registered you can find the IP address
of a distant node by using the 'dns-query <node>' command. There is even a
script in the hamvoip distribution - allstar_ssh.sh - that does just that,
it finds your public IP for ssh connections from your node number. The
asnodes method while it works is not a sanctioned method and has nothing to
do directly with allstar or hamvoip and unfortunately really adds to
insecurity of the Allstar network. It enables anyone registered as an
allstar server or not to discover information about Allstar nodes. While
convenient this just makes it easier for hackers to do bad things.
