Stephen, I ran a Script that Doug wrote called write node callsigns . It may do what your interested in. I have the script and how I installed it on my site
http://www.qsl.net/w/w2ymm//downloads/ALLSTAR/Scripts/write_node_callsigns/

It converts all the callsigns in /var/log/asterisk/astdb.txt to .gsm files

Using the document http://docs.allstarlink.org/drupal/node/131 I was able to get my node to announce connection and disconnection using my repeaters callsign on the local node. However the remote node still announces using my node number.
