Are you talking about config items when you say "in the code"?

When you are having problems with nodes connecting, the logs can be a 
huge help. When connecting private nodes to public nodes, like I am 
doing at home (check bubble chart on 45943), each side needs to know 
about the other in iax.conf and extensions.conf.
