Dave,

 OK here is the fix. I did not write this script so I have no idea why the
exclude included something in the include. Once I did this I was able to
get error free backups.

Edit the file - /usr/local/etc/usb-backup.conf   - make the exclude line
look like it is below. Delete /etc/asterisk/local part
You can also add or delete from the include list as desired.

# usb backup include and exclude file
#

BACKUP_INFO_FILE=/tmp/.backup_info

EXCLUDE_LIST="/root/restore"

INCLUDE_LIST="/etc/asterisk /usr/local/bin /usr/local/sbin /usr/local/etc
/var/spool/cron /root ${BACKUP_INFO_FILE}"
