[arm-allstar] Full duplex modes

Sam,

Thanks for the info!

Duplex = 0 and linktolink = yes is what's needed for a real full duplex
solution.

Thanks,
Irvin

Hi Jim,

I have a DMK usb device connected to an icom FR6000.

The problem that I am having is that I do not want whatever the FR6000
receives to be repeated. The only option available (duplex = 3) keys up
the transmitter with no audio. I do not want the transmitter to be keyed
at all.

Duplex = 3 is what I need but it keys up the xmtr.

Regards,
Irvin

Let me be more specific.

I would like to connect two nodes labeled node 1 (rx1 and tx2) and node
2 (rx2 and tx2).
And am needing:
-rx1 to key up tx2
and:
-rx2 to key up tx1

I do not want rx1 to interact with tx1 at all or rx2 to interact with
tx2 at all.

Hopefully this clears any confusion.

Regards,
Irvin

Why not use Duplex = 0 -No telemetry
or Duplex = 1 which has telemetry... but no repeat audio/ptt

Try duplex=0 and linktolink=yes

duplex = 2 repeats audio
duplex = 3 does not repeat audio but keys up the xmtr when the rcvr is
active (I don't want it to key up the xmtr)
duplex = 4 is basically the same as duplex = 2

I want duplex = 3 with no repeat audio nor ptt; I want independent +
simultaneous receive and transmit.

Thanks.

I like duplex 3, no incoming (through node) courtesy tone, and courtesy
tone on my local input. That way the other side's tone won't drive you
crazy. You can monitor your link without feedback. Your rf incoming roger
beep tells you if someone else has gained access to your node through
internet or rf. If you get ghost beeps, and you didn't key up, you know
someone is mucking around on your personal repeater node.

If you don't want your repeater to key up with incoming rf, you won't know
if anyone has gained access to it. No local rf or ip roger beep.

Hi William,

Locally originating DTMF tones are usually dynamically muted by the
AllStar software. So I'm confused as to the problem you're having?

Note that there is a switch in the simpleusb.conf file which will turn off
all DTMF processing (dtmf_dsp=0) on a per-node basis, and if disabled,
DTMF would not be muted.

What exactly is happening?

Hi,

The scenario you're describing is typical operation for usbradio, I
believe. I don't believe there is any additional capability (e.g.: 151.4
keys only local, 71.9 keys all) currently implemented.

BTW, I'm not thoroughly familiar with the DSP "guts" of usbradio.

Anyone else got any ideas?

Hi William,

Ah, so the DTMF is coming in-bound to your node from another node, via a
link?? ...As you've found, remote-originating DTMF tones don't get
locally processed (at your end), so, at least they won't accidentally
activate an AllStar feature.

It's possible that the app_rpt notch-filter capability could reduce the
amplitude of these tones, making them less noticeable. I haven't actually
tried the notch capability for this type application....Has anyone else
tried this? ...If not, I'll give it a whirl and report back.
