[arm-allstar] Stupid newbie question. Would learning python help automate things in this distro?

Allstar in general is written in the C language but that is not something
you would normally be messing with especially as a beginner. Most of what
users do is scripting which could be done in bash, python, perl, php, etc.
If you are new to Linux the first thing I would do is become familiar with
bash which would take care of most of your scripting needs. There are books
on it and the other scripting languages and Google is your friend! People
have their own preferences as to which to use and in certain situations one
might be better than the other. Linux is a very powerful and capable
operating system and you learn new things everyday.
Many of us use it exclusively having given up Windows. You may want to
bring a PC up in Linux and give a full blown system a try using versions
like Ubuntu Mate or Linux Mint which are very all free and user friendly.
They are also much more secure and not bothered by the constant hacks you
hear about on the news effecting Windows.
