Yes, have done it on the BCR-220.

Stuffed the Pi inside... http://www.bcfmca.bc.ca/rpt220.php

Note that I found the TX very sensitive to noise and hum... needed to add
some extra grounding, even though I was using shielded cable.

Also, beware if you want to TX CTCSS and have CSQ RX... that is
(apparently) a very tricky configuration to get working... pulled out lots
of hair figuring out how (and even then, I'm not sure why it is currently
working, since it shouldn't the way it is configured).

At the end of the day, it does work fine.
