The Phoenix SX is a perfect match. The molex pins on the rear give you PTT, Mic high, RX Mute (COS+CG) and Vol/SQ High which is squelched and CG filtered pre-emphasized audio. You just enable deemphasis in the simpleusb config and you're good. You can even run a wire from the spare molex pin up to the node A/B switch, use a GPIO pin to change channels via Allmon/Supermon.
Pi2 works just fine.
