[arm-allstar] Nano Allstar Interface code?

Hi Doug,

I liked the idea of using the Arduino as it has lots of I/O including analog which could be used for things like RSSI and temperature monitoring which in turn would allow PWM fan speed control for cooling the radios. All of this extra data could be passed to allmon to allow better monitoring of repeaters/gateways.

At the moment I'm using the Dallas DS18B20 one wire temperature sensors into the RPi and controlling the fans on/off state depending on temperature. The temperature and fan status is displayed with a modified allmon by inserting variables into asterisk using a script. It works well.

Regards,

Neil

Larry,

Well the Nano is cheap so no great loss if you don't use it. I do think
we eventually will have an interface mode for it but my point in my
previous email was that there is nothing wrong with the USB FOBs at this
point. I have built the Nano - it was the one that was in the howto and
after building it kind of dawned on me that it was a lot more work and more
complicated (more things to go wrong) than just modifying a FOB. You still
have to do a lot of wiring and interfacing and in the end it is not as
clean as a FOB because you have signals coming from two different places
and you are using an extra USB port. I know it is neat to use a Nano but
why make extra work just to play. I suspect if and when the Nano is
supported it will have limited use compared to just using a USB FOB. As you
know the Nano does not replace the FOB you still need it anyway.

Everyone should buy a supply of these FOBs. They are easy to modify and if
we get enough on hand we will never have to worry about running out!
