Doug,
Thank you for confirming I wasn't missing something.
For those who haven't seen this section of the README:
"Source code is not a part of the image download but will be available
as a package download. The source is significant in size and unless
you have a need for it there is no reason to download."
So what it says is, indeed, the Hamvoip Allstar fork is not currently
open source, but it may be at some time in the future.
Jim graciously shared his Allstar code under a license that requires
source distributions for all binary distributions:
https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.en.html#GPLRequireSourcePostedPublic
"But if you release the modified version to the public in some way,
the GPL requires you to make the modified source code available to the
program's users, under the GPL."
The Linux kernel source also must be released with any binary
distribution. (I'm assuming there were modifications based on this
statement in the README.):
"Kernel updates will happen when a significant change is made that
effects [sic] functionality, either bug fixes or system improvements."
It makes me sick to see Jim's work and legacy disregarded so soon
after his death. Please do the right thing and release source code for
any binary distribution that includes modified versions of Asterisk,
app_rpt, Allstar, or any other GPL-licensed software.
