Ray,
Not sure what you mean by audio and control. USB is digital and there is
currently no driver to directly connect an external USB device like that to
Allstar itself. Not to say there could not be but I doubt there will.
If you want to control the transceiver (cat) from an Allstar server hamlib
is built-in and does support the FT-991. All you need to do is connect the
transceiver to the Pi USB, determine the usb port it is connected to and
issue commands to control the transceiver. hamlib lists the FT991 driver as
stable so I suspect it should work. There is a link on the hanvoip.org web
page howto section to hamlib info. You can type: rigctl -l to list the
rigs supported or rigctl -h at the linux prompt for help.
You could write scripts to to call rigctl and change things on the radio
based on DTMF sequences if desired.
