[arm-allstar] Node 45740 is no longer in the database

These questions come up a lot. Here is some info.

The important part of the puzzle is the registration server and being
registered. You can determine if you are registered by entering the
Asterisk client and entering 'iax2 show registry'

If you are registered and the file /tmp/rpt_extnodes exists on your system
you are good to go.

Once you register your system reports its existence to a status server IF
you have that turned on. This is done at setup but you can change whether
you report or not by commenting or uncommenting the two statpost lines at
the end of every node definition in /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf.  If they are
commented you system will not report its status. However it will operate
normally and you can connect out and others can connect to you assuming
they know your node number. Some people prefer to not report a node to the
status server for various reasons.

If you have the statpost lines uncommented (no ; before them) your system
should report to the status server and those updates should appear in
lsnodes, supermon, and at he allstar status site. Sometimes for one reason
or another this does not happen because your info does not get to the
status server or the server itself has problems. This does not effect your
Allstar operations.

I just want to make it clear that once you register and connect to others
the status info at allstarlink is merely for convenience. It has nothing to
do with your system working or not. Personally I rarely pay any attention
to it.

Once you are registered your server simply uses a lookup table to determine
the IP address of the node you want to connect to. The connection is
direct. There is no master server you connect through. At that point except
for keeping your registration current (a re-registration is sent once a
minute)  and getting the node list (every 10 minutes) your system is an
independent.

Registration puts your node in the node database so others can connect to
you. To see if your node is in the database (in your case) at the Linux
prompt do -

grep 45740 /tmp/rpt_extnodes

That yields -

45740=radio at 69.89.182.210:4569/45740,69.89.182.210

here and should there also. This shows your public IP and port that others
would use to connect to you.

*WA3DSP* Hi Doug, First, let me thank you and the development team for all the work you guys have done.  Below are comments:'iax2 show registry' is reporting the correct information./tmp/rpt_extnodes exists, but is not updating at all.  On my other nodes it updates every 10 to 15 minutes.  Any idea why this file is not updating.The two statpost lines at the end of every node definition in /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf at NOT commented out, so they should be reporting.Thanks,Steve_WB8GRS
