[arm-allstar] AT&T Hotspot - Issues with Wireless

Pete,
As far as I know at this point AT&T seems to be the only hotspot that is a
problem. There is a fix for it that we know works but at this point we have
not integrated it into our software mainly because it is a complete change
in the way the system registers and receives the node database. Eventually
there will be an update in our code that will benefit everyone but it is
not there yet.
For now my best recommendation is to use a service that does work. There
are many alternatives but Freedom Pop is the least costly and does work
well. So rather than change you cell phone service from AT&T, if you are
happy with it otherwise, signing up for Freedom Pop is probably the best
way to go. It is free for 500Mb per month and you can sign up with up to 10
friends for an additional 500mb. For a $3.99 per month you can carry over
data. So unless you use an extensive amount of air time you can essentially
have it for the cost of the interface which I believe is less than $50 and
available online.

I would also recommend using the ILBC codec when using a data limited
mobile network if possible as it offers a 2/3's reduction in bandwidth
usage with a minimal reduction in quality.
