[arm-allstar] Radio interface question

Jeff,

The first mod to use just the mic would not work with simpleusb you also need COS. I think the link I gave you gives info on how to get COS inside and I presume PTT, audio in/out could come from the mic connector but if you are inside you could pick thos up in there also and leave the mic connector open. I don't like the idea of disconnecting the speaker. You really want to pick up audio before the volume control though so you can use the volume and monitor the channel without effecting the audio level to Allstar. This would have to be done inside. Maybe on the high side of the volume pot.

I really don't know anything about this radio and I never had one. Does it has built-in programmable PL?

Hopefully someone else who may have done this can pipe in.

Hey Doug and all,
Here is one of the sources that I found that didn't require any mic plug modifications. Is there something with this setup that I should be concerned with and should stay away from? If so, I am willing to do the mods to the radio, I was just trying to avoid it.

Jeff,

This link might help it talks about the 5 pin connector. It looks like you will need to make some mods though.

My question is, can this be interfaced to a URI strictly through the mic jack as is, without bringing the COS to the jack? Information on this is sparse at best. I did see where someone said it could be done, but that was the only reference I have seen about it. Is anyone else running a setup like this and does it work OK?
