I have described the Allstar usbradio/simpleusb situation many times but I will mention it again.

Since the time I started in Allstar using Acid and Centos on PC's I recognized a distinct distortion on many systems. The distortion is variable, sometimes there sometimes note. It is usually always on the transmit signal. That is the audio that goes out over the Internet from the node. You don't hear it, others do. Also not all systems do this and then not all the time. It also depends how many DSP features you have engaged in usbradio. 

While the usual thought about cause is blamed on the processor there could be other factors like inefficiently written code. That being said the small board computers can and often do create degraded audio when using usbradio. That is a fact whether you want to go ahead and use it is your decision. I recommend not to because we would like to keep Allstar audio the best audio out there in the hamvoip community.

We are also working on a possible fix for this in a V2 arm-allstar release in the future and faster processors like the RPi3 may also help. For now I would recommend using the external PL decoder for the limited number of mostly commercial radios that do not have PL. The simplesusb channel driver now has both pre and deemphasis so you can feed the deemphasized audio from the radio to both the PL decoder and Allstar.

Hello,
I am trying to help a friend setup the latest RPi image of arm-allstar for use with his GE Mstr II Mobile repeater.  I have run through the scripts and I end up with just static on the repeater output.  I can connect to other nodes but then I end up sending static to them! 
I suspect that this is a COS issue and I cannot get CTCSS working using DSP.  The default scripts do not list DSP as an option for squelch.  Since this repeater does not have a PL board or a squelch adjustment knob, we need to have DSP handle it otherwise the repeater just repeats static when activated.
Can this be accomplished on arm-allstar?
